Vladyslava Ryabota


Vladyslava was born and raised in Ukraine. She graduated from the Law Faculty of the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University and began working for the President’s National anti-AIDS Committee of Ukraine. Her first area of expertise was human rights and anti-discrimination. She decided to broaden her knowledge and continued her education as a British Council scholar at the Human Rights Centre of Essex University, Great Britain.

After returning to Ukraine, Vladyslava practiced law with a private law firm and then was hired by IFC where she has worked for the past 12 years. She has been active in a number of advisory projects implementing corporate governance in Ukraine. Currently she is a legal advisor on corporate governance for the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Department. She is responsible for assisting advisory projects covering Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic and Kazakhstan. Vladyslava provides corporate governance training for IFC staff as well as for other clients and provides assessment of corporate governance practices of potential investee companies in the region. Last year Vladyslava completed her PhD on mergers and acquisitions. She is the author of two books and more than 50 articles on different topics, including corporate governance, labor and commercial law. In her spare time Vladyslava teaches law and mediation at the renowned Kyiv-Mohyla Business School and enjoys spending time with her family – husband and two sons.
